Invisalign SmilesAt Summit Dental Center, we looove Invisalign clear aligners! Why? Because they have the power to transform a self-conscious person who hides his or her smile into a powerhouse of confidence who just may be a camera hog this time next year.

Phew! The holidays are finally behind us, and our new year’s resolutions (hopefully) still dominate our daily thinking. If self-improvement is on your list – as it is for so many Americans — you may be focused on health, weight, career, stress coping strategies, relationships…you name it.  If personal appearance, in particular, tops your chart you may be embarking on a new diet, a new workout program, cosmetic procedures, or…a new smile?

What’s in a Smile?

Did you know that an even, white smile is a major attraction factor for romantic relationships? That it can even make or break a career?

Scientific studies have proven over and over that – right or wrong! – the state of our teeth has a major impact not only on Americans’ quality of life, but their overall success in relationships…work, social, or romantic…as well. None of us want to be judged by our appearance, but since ancient days, humans’ natural and inherent disposition in selecting people we want to associate with relied on first impressions and physical characteristics.

Bright, even teeth convey health – a biologically relevant asset when we (consciously or subconsciously!) discern among potential romantic partners, colleagues we want to hire or promote to reflect our own perceived image, or friends we like to hang out with for a night on the town.

When it comes to appearance, our smile is the first thing potential associates see – at work, among possible friends, and when considering “relationship material”.

What Can Invisalign do For You?

Your Summit Dental Center dentist can equip you with a series of clear Invisalign aligners to be worn over a duration of approximately 12 months. With each new aligner set, your teeth will progressively be pushed into the desired position.

Invisalign clear aligners are gentle, with minimum discomfort, and practically invisible to others, making Invisalign treatment especially attractive to adults and those currently entrenched in the workforce. Clear aligners eliminate the need for traditional metal braces that may provide a negative focal point for prospective career associates or social and romantic prospects.

How Does Invisalign Work?

Invisalign clear aligner treatment begins with a digital mapping of your current dental configuration and even allows the patient to view projected step-by-step treatment results prior to committing to the procedure. Ultimately, the final treatment outcome depends on a patient’s adherence to switching schedules and proper usage of the clear aligner sets issued to him or her, according to the dentist’s “roadmap” laid out in the beginning.

Invisalign clear aligners should be worn nearly all day and night, for at least 20 hours per day. They must be removed for eating and teeth brushing/flossing, but should otherwise remain in the patient’s mouth consistently in order to achieve maximum teeth straightening benefits.

The course of treatment typically extends over a period of one year. Shorter and longer time frames have been observed depending on the patient. Your Summit Dental Center dentist can and will adjust your treatment plan according to the milestones achieved with every progressive set of clear aligners provided.

What Are The Alternatives to Achieve Straighter Teeth?

You may have experienced the alternative option as a kid already: A mouth full of uncomfortable metal braces that scrape your cheeks and hurt your teeth. Traditional metal braces are non-removable and can make eating difficult or even painful. You’d likely have to abstain from some of your favorite foods like popcorn, apples, taffy (although we don’t recommend taffy for any sort of teeth!), and chewing gum.

Whatever food you can eat may get trapped within the metal structures in your mouth and lead to bad breath or even cavities without a strict brushing regimen. In addition, frequent dentist visits to adjust those metal braces can be uncomfortable and costly.

The good news is that Invisalign clear aligners are available to teenagers, too! Once a rite of passage for adolescents, teeth straightening no longer has to be an embarrassment or discomfort. Clear aligners by Invisalign can help teenagers maintain and grow their social circles while achieving a straighter smile at the same time!

A Word About Competing Clear Aligners…

Summit Dental Center subscribed to the Invisalign clear aligner program for a good reason: Reliable, proven positive outcomes for our patients. While competitors may claim zero dentist visits for their alternative clear aligner programs, we strongly feel that dentist supervision is essential to ensure desired results and the prevention of undesirable outcomes.

Competing clear aligner programs sometimes take first dental impressions, then leave the patient to fend for himself once treatment begins. Others ask patients to take dental impressions themselves. While this business strategy certainly eliminates a trip or two to the dentist, we believe in the advantages of professional and accurate teeth impressions and monitored treatment.

Our dentists at Summit Dental Center are here to modify Invisalign treatment plans if problems arise, misalignment correction doesn’t go as planned for whatever reason, and adjust timing to perfectly fit the patient’s needs. In other words, we are flexible in ensuring you get exactly the teeth straightening results you deserve.
